Ukraine: Invasion Imminent?

Recommended Posts

Always gotta take those sort of reports with a pinch of salt.  Was a good month ago that Putin apparently laid out his conditions for a ceasefire.

They were easily achievable but nothing ever happened.  Clearly it wasn't as easy as the news made out at the time.

Another glimmer of hope?

I should sue The Guardian for plagiarism :)

Looks like they are belatedly facing reality and repeating the "tripe" I have been posting for weeks.

There is only one practical solution to solve this crisis.

The Guardian

Nato must help wind down this war – and stop stringing Ukraine along

"Nato was never serious about admitting Ukraine. The Russian invasion has lowered Ukraine’s chances even further.

"Amid the debate over the war in Ukraine, there’s widespread agreement on one point: the carnage and destruction will continue – not just for weeks, but for months or, according to some western officials, years or even decades.

"Eventually, however, this war, like all others, will conclude, but not before Russia or Ukraine, perhaps both, become convinced that the losses – in blood and treasure – are unbearable and success beyond reach".

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/apr/13/nato-ukraine-russia-end-war

Turkey's Erdogan (a NATO Member) is doing his best to broker the on again/off again peace talks, but the rest of the Western warmongers who are fueling this fultile slaughter, hopefully will gradually get on board, but only after they found a new "narrative" that allows these incompetents to "save face"!

Unfortunately, that will take more "blood and treasure", while they all consider the political outfall from changing course.

A pox on all their houses.!

This war can and should be ended - NOW!

The one person that could (and should) end this war, today, is Putin.

A glimmer of hope for the Ukrainian people?

Turkey's strongman and Trump pal, Erdogan is hosting peace talks between the Ukraine and Russia.

They appear to be making progress on the only logical and moral solution, a negotiated settlement.

Russia, Ukraine ‘close to agreement’ in negotiations, says Turkey.

"Turkey has said Russia and Ukraine made progress on their negotiations to halt the war and the two sides were “close to an agreement”.

"Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24 with President Vladimir Putin calling his country’s actions a “special operation” meant to demilitarise Ukraine and purge it of what he sees as dangerous nationalists. Ukraine and the West say Putin launched an aggressive war of choice".

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/20/turkey-says-russia-ukraine-close-to-agreement

Whatever!

This might not sit well with some who favour a fight to the death with Biden's mortal enemy, Putin, because "they are winning", and it leaves the U.S, and Britain out in the cold.

And of course the United Nations.  Are they still relevant? :)

Could Erdogan get a NOBEL, could Putin and Zelensky share one?

Turkey ,  Who's dictator Erdogon is holding chairmanship of piece talks , The Country that as we speak is invading Syria and massacring Kurds , That helps Azerbiajan invade and steal lands from Armenia and  also occupies Northern Cyprus  . Trasrick that having a laugh .

According to the MSM, Putin is an evil, war criminal, genocidal maniac.

I doubt he would listen to you, but it wouldn't hurt to email him, if it makes you feel better?

We need other solutions, and the recent Guardian piece looks like they are finally getting a clue.

No I'm for a diplomatic settlement to stop the the rape and slaughter. Even if it has to be enforced by the West.

I'm on board with the Guardian piece, that opines:

"Amid the debate over the war in Ukraine, there’s widespread agreement on one point: the carnage and destruction will continue – not just for weeks, but for months or, according to some western officials, years or even decades.

"Eventually, however, this war, like all others, will conclude, but not before Russia or Ukraine, perhaps both, become convinced that the losses – in blood and treasure – are unbearable and success beyond reach".

Trouble is the West shows no willingness to talk abpout a diplomatic solution, indeed after calling Putin a maniacal, evil, genocidal war criminal they have eliminated themselves from any constructive role as a peace broker. And they are pumping more arms into the Ukraine, even today:

"Biden announces $800M in Ukraine aid, including artillery, helicopters", that brings the total up to $3 billion, to date.

Beyond the click bait headlines, it is one complicated mess.

NATO is buying Russian Fossil Fuel Oil and Gas, at record high prices, which they refuse to stop. "Every bit of money that goes to Putin is going to kill Ukrainians. We’re all a part of that as long as the U.S. doesn’t go and sanction the energy companies,"

Russia is a major player and and Iran's trusted guarantor of the "The Iran nuclear agreement", formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)  which the U.S. is attempting to revive.

The U.S. Relies on Russia now for its Uranium (see the Clinton Uranium One scandal)

"As of 2020, close to half the uranium used for fuel in the United States was imported from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The amended agreement authorized the United States to purchase as much as 24 percent of its nuclear fuel from Russia next year".

"Further complicating matters, the Energy Department announced plans in 2020 to invest up to $3.2 billion in the development of a new generation of advanced reactors — including one devised by TerraPower, a company co-founded by Bill Gates — that rely on a more enriched variety of uranium that is only produced at commercial scale by Russia. _ New York Times.

Biden will not give THAT up :)

China's relationship with Putin,  is also an issue. China is the World's largest producer of rare metals the stuff that the West needs for it's programs of EV's, alternate energy sources, to "eliminate the combustion engine" to comply with their Paris Accord policies.

Even Canada is involved. "The Canadian Forces says it had no obligation to be entirely certain of the backgrounds of those soldiers it trained in Ukraine. The Azov unit, .... its connections to the far-right have long been recognized. In 2017, Canada’s Joint Task Force Ukraine produced a briefing on the Azov Battalion, acknowledging its links to Nazi ideology. “Multiple members of Azov have described themselves as Nazis,” the Canadian officers warned in their briefing". (I hear that NAZIs are not a stranger to rape, war crimes and genocide, either!) :)

So there you have it, "a complicated mess".

As for the MSM "narrative" that Ukraine is winning and Russia is folding, Lol,  I'd remind the warmongers, that both Napoleon's massed European forces, and Germany's massed European forces, failed to accomplish that, and that was before Russia was a major Nuclear Power.

The only options are, a quick military victory by Ukraine over Russia.  A  long drawn out war "not just for weeks, but for months or, according to some western officials, years or even decades" - Guardian. Or a major Western military intervention in the war, that would likely end in Nuclear World War 3.

OR, a cease fire and Peace Talks enforced on Zelensky by a united West.

To me the lesser of all the evils is the latter.

And, the sooner the better. Stop the slaughter NOW!

Your use of NOW is getting tiresome. The West will enforce nothing on Zelensky as we have no moral right to do so, Ukraine is a democracy which is perfectly entitled to defend itself ,as the crew of a certain guided missile cruiser have just found out.

His use of everything is getting tiresome. As is everyone’s inclination to keep responding to him. Kinda spoils the thread.

Apparently Russia are warning the US not to supply weapons to the Ukraine :

Ukraine round-up: Russia sends warning to US

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-61122074

The hypocrisy of Russia is breathtaking.

How many countries, over the years, have Russia supplied weapons to ?

In fact in Korea and Vietnam they had combat advisors actually in the countries as well as massive amounts of weapons.

Putin is an absolute idiot if he thinks these kind of threats will make any difference, if anything they will encourage the supply of arms as it shows he is rattled.

Unfortunately that is true of many people when it comes to this war. I have spoken to several recently an when I have mentioned it all they seem to say now is that its becoming a bore and they are fed up with hearing about it.

The frequency of posts on this thread seem to mirror that as well as they are getting less every week.
