Composite Decking.

Recommended Posts

My son want composite decking in his garden. He will be fitting it himself.

Can anyone recommend some good quality stuff?

The decking B & Q does has got terrible reviews.

He doesn't want to do it and have to replace it in a few years.

Any help appreciated.

I've had composite decking for over 10 years now. It looks great when clean but the colour has fades over the years. Mine was American made ( not that this made any difference).

The spacers provided in y opinion are not wide enough and there is virtually no gap between the boards in places and water gathers. Another point is that when wet and/or frosty it can be very slippery.  In addition there are small cracks appeared along the edges of the boards. I did e mail the manufacturer in the USA and they did compensate me for some of the cost. They did not have to do that as they had bought out the original  manufacturing company.

I hope this provides a useful insight.

As someone who is 'in the trade', just about everything sold by B&Q is $hite.

National Plastics & True Plastics would be good places to start.

Not a Eurocell fan.

I bought a decking package a few years ago,  it was not long before it looked dull and dirty,  I varnished it and it cracked,  I didn't want to paint it forever so I covered it with astro-turf - it looks great.
