Mister M Â Â 1,624 #38 Posted January 19, 2022 I hope Weatherspoons don't change the name of gammon and chips because apparently it's offensive to a certain segment of the population.
 Share this content via...
Jim117   72 #39 Posted January 20, 2022 I don’t care what the spice are called. I just wish the manufacturers would go back to using gelatin or whatever it was before they started using India rubber. Tackling a bag of jelly babies or wine gums nowadays is to invite a case of repetitive jaw strain injury.
 Share this content via...

trastrick   866 #42 Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) I think I've said this before, but there's a case to be made for a class action suite against Thornton's Toffee.  I'm sure they were aware of how it was rotting the teeth of a whole generation.  But in those days, we didn't blame everybody else for our own poor choices. Edited January 20, 2022 by trastrick
 Share this content via...

Jim117   72 #44 Posted January 20, 2022 trastrick, teeth didn’t have chance to rot with Thorntons special toffee. That stuff used to get such a grip it would just pull them out by the roots 😂 Tasted lovely though.
 Share this content via...

It might not have mattered when there were only a few thousand people who would not buy your product because of its ingredients but now there are enough of them that not catering for them significantly cuts into a company's potential customer base. Thorntons was the posh stuff that aunties would bring up from downtown.  We got the cheap stuff from the corner shop.
 Share this content via...
