You're wasting your time...some of the people in this thread will believe the earth is flat if they read it on the internet.

Yeah, waiting until you know something is safe and effective is akin to being a flat earther 😂

Also clearly agrees with both chekhov and me that the response to covid was basically insane- see the title of his book-

Mark Woolhouse is publishing a book on the history of the pandemic as known so far.and repeatedly says We got it wrong.

i,e.he includes himself and does not claim to have had perfect foresight,

We learn as we go along.

Have a look what is in the Corona vuirus family and how long they have been around

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronavirus_diseases

they have knowledge and experience in creating vaccines and medicines for many years, why is covid 19 suddenly different?

TheDaddy is right- zero long term testing data for the covid19 vaccines. Might not matter to most, but it does remain a fact.

Another difference with covid is the unusual degree of vaccine coercion for a virus of this type- with people having to leave certain jobs if they refuse, and, in some countries, making the vaccines compulsory.

Hindsight is wonderful. Where was he in Feb / March 2020?

He appears to assume that all the factors were in place at the start of the pandemic for testing and shielding. We know they weren't. We know HMG got a lot wrong - at the end of the day it's politicians who make the final decision. And I think there should be an inquiry this year into the mess HMG made.

Woolhouse was certainly lauding the vaccine(s) in December 2020 (rightly IMHO). He was (is?) also involved with SAGE.

https://inews.co.uk/news/science/patrick-vallance-jonathan-van-tam-analysis-scientists-nerds-heroes-covid-vaccines-800696

“The scientific effort is extraordinary and unprecedented. Tens of thousands of publications and pre-prints have been produced on a single topic in a single year – I haven’t seen a global effort on this scale in my career on any issue,” said Mark Woolhouse, professor of infectious disease epidemiology at Edinburgh University.

“It’s the sort of build-up of research that you would expect to see over years or even decades in some fields – and it’s been done in months,” added Professor Woolhouse, part of a Sage subgroup of scientists advising the UK government on the virus and a member of Scotland’s Covid advisory group.

“Vaccine development has never taken less than four years for any vaccine that I know of, and ten wouldn’t be a surprise. So to collapse it all into ten months is absolutely extraordinary. And particularly to build a new vaccine technology into line at scale [the mRNA vaccine] – is remarkable. No question about that.”

Why not read the review in the Independent 😎

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/joe-rogan-covid-podcast-doctor-b1977603.html

"Controversial podcast host Joe Rogan has welcomed a doctor on his show who is known for pushing debunked and misleading claims about Covid-19 and the vaccine.

Dr Peter McCullough appeared on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where he claimed that health officials withheld treatments for Covid-19 in the early days of the pandemic in order to spread fear among the population and push the public to take a vaccine."

The MSM rubbishing an expert and you believing the MSM, speaks volumes 🤣

From what I've seen the MSM is changing its viewpoint, and agreeing more and more that enough is enough and we must simply learn how to live with covid and  get on with life.
