Other Sheffield History Site

Recommended Posts

Whatever's happened to the other Sheffield history site in the last 24 hours.

It used to be a very good site until around a year ago when it started concentrating more on modern Sheffield.

Looks as though it's folding up now and I can't find any way of getting into the discussion forums.

Some very knowledgeable guys on there too.

Sheffield History is owned by the same guys who run Owlstalk the Wednesday fans  online forum.

I thought they’d bought this site too but I could be wrong

The History site has gone a bit wonky the last couple of days

I really like the site but think there are too many categories to post in  and engagements tail off quickly - could do with slimming it down a bit.

I agree.

I think with most sites people will often just go to the main chat site.

I’ve posted stuff in other categories on there and sometimes it’s months before anyones seen it

The response time to anything is invariably incredibly slow.

Ive never understood why people will

post a question, get a response that requires an answer then not look again till a year later .

That applies to any site

Has anyone any idea why the Sheffield History Website is at the moment inaccessible?

I think they are brothers, always link to each others stuff, think one of them posts on here plugging his 'gimbal walk' style youtube videos occasionally.

To those experiencing problems.

If your view of sheffieldhistory.co.uk page/site is displaying as an unformatted, html style, object list, on a white background,

the site appears to be working ok for me in dark mode.

To change the view to 'Dark Mode', scroll down towards the bottom of the page,
on the left, look for:

> Theme

>LIGHT MODE (Default)
>DARK MODE

Click on DARK MODE.

Yep.  It’s the Hargreaves bros

James and Neil

James also does the Sheffield Guide selling all sorts of Sheffield related goods

I've Chrome and Edge set in dark mode, and it is still the same, unformatted html.

It's the SH website you change to dark mode, not your browser.
