The USA is a big place and lots of it is (almost) empty. The USA's population density is 88/sq mi. The UK's for comparison is 717/sq mi. They could have 8 times as many loonies per 1000 people as us and we'd still have a higher density of them.

 

The programme itself was a combination of interesting, depressing and worrying. You could have some sympathy for the people latched onto it whilst trying to gain some sort of control or meaning in their lives. Some were just plain wacko. The worrying, and perhaps least surprising, bit was the number of Republican politicians cynically exploiting it for political gain.

That reflects my reactions as well.

The interviewer highlighted the tactic which we see here from time to time in  that the leaders latch on to a single truth and then use it as a basis for their wilder claims.

Michelle Obama is a man 🤪and the whole paedophilia slurs.

Is that a wig on Roger Stones head or a piece of Axminster carpet.

Generally depressing that some people can be manipulated and used.

I did not know that a  Density was was the collective known for Conspiracy Theorists.

I know this thread was a reaction to a specific TV programme, but I think the whole arena of conspiracy theories, paranoia and possibly mass hysteria needs a wider audience and a move to the General Discussions section of Sheffield Forum.
