Wi Fi Usb

Hi, I have a desktop PC, running with Windows 10 - 64 bit. It does not have built in Wi-Fi, so I use an ethernet cable. I want to adapt it to WI- FI. I am an elderly person, and I am looking for something that is not complicated to use.

The only way I am aware of to convert a desktop PC to run wirelessly is to install a Wi-Fi card to the inside of the machine, which is not always possible on pre-built units due to lack of space.

 

Which desktop do you have - make and model, and do you know anyone with the skill to do the job, if it is possible?

It is possible to get a simple USB Wi-Fi dongle that just plugs into a spare USB port. Something like this would do and they are fairy easy to setup as Windows should just install the drivers for it.

The smaller and cheaper ones that have no aerial also work but tend to be a bit limited in range and speed.

You need a usb wireless adapter (not an internal wifi card, or a powerline adapter).
