Michael_N Â Â 36 #1 Posted December 3, 2021 First have today released details of the forthcoming changes, sorry cuts. Most services after 7pm will be reduced to a hourly service, with some services getting a further cut in frequency such as the 83 that has seen a 50% cut in less than a year, (started at every 10 mins, then 15 mins, now will be 20 minutes between First & Stagecoach). Â Only the 52A/120 will remain every 30 minutes after 7pm daily. Cuts are blamed on driver shortages, not sure how the cutbacks to the early evening services can ensure any duty/driver savings... If a bus is not used, it does not need a driver resulting in a decrease daily on the amount of drivers needed. The remaining drivers can then be redeployed at times when they are more use. Not rocket science.
 Share this content via...

What do you want them to do when there are less drivers?  Also, newsflash, less people travel after 7pm than before.
 Share this content via...

Remembering how to breath each day is an achievement to many.  8 minutes ago, lawro said: The bus service serves the bus drivers and not the passengers. Explain how it serves the drivers and not the passengers? Do you have a driving licence & passed your test more than 6 months ago? If so why not give it a go & see just how it's not serving drivers at all....
 Share this content via...

The best one I heard when I was driving buses was somebody saying we should get a bonus for running early. Its almost as good as saying if you can drive the bus while supping a mug of tea and smoking a fag we should have been paid more for multitasking. BigAl1 Â Â 143 #12 Posted December 4, 2021 well one thing is certain the bus companies are not doing what the economists might expect if their is a shortage and increasing the salaries they pay their drivers. In the real world you might have expected to see First trying to attract drivers from Stagecoach who are clearly dissatisfied with their salaries. Â expect now to see a drop in ridership, leading to a drop in revenue leading to more cuts
 Share this content via...
