Crookes In The 50'S And 60'S

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I came across this site by accident very late but was so interested I have read everyone of the 41 pages.

I doubt anyone will remember me but here goes. I'm Ron Davis and used to live on School Road directly opposite Jewitts Bakery which was on School Road at the corner of Ainsley Road.

I went to Western Road school 1956 to 1963 and then went to the Central Technical School in town. I worked saturday afternoons for the bookies on Crookes (Blanksby's}.

I have played football for every pub and club in the Crookes /Walkley area.

I have lots of answers to the questins posed on the 41 pages as well as lots of things to add.For example I went to school with Bob Cocker who lived on Ramsey Road also Geoff Bly younger son of Biy the butcher and they lived on Clementson Road.
