They simply don't have enough drivers to deliver the service all the way to the airport at present.
 Share this content via...

Blue is reduced from every 10-12 mins to every 15 mins in the daytime (still every 20 mins eve/Sun same as pre-covid) and Tram Train is half hourly all day every day, normally 3 per hour Mon-Sat daytime. The evening Tram Train service is actually now better than pre-covid incidentally! Yellow and Purple are running to the normal Pre-Covid timetable at present. New timetables available at https://travelsouthyorkshire.com/en-gb/newsupdates/service-changes 83/83A changes are a complete laugh, so First keep their half hourly service on the 83, but Stagecoach decide to reduce their half hourly service to a 40 minute headway… so every few hours there will probably be 2 buses on the 83/83A following each other around. Great joined up thinking… pathetic from Stagecoach yet again!
 Share this content via...

Great joined up thinking… pathetic from Stagecoach yet again! What a shame first and Stagecoach could not work together but then Stagecoach can't even manage joined up writing internally with the trams with very often the yellow and blue trams following each other between hillsborough and the town of the yellow tram and tram train doing the same. No concept of customer service operationally led have not as yet seen the joined up timetable for the tram and SL1/A bus
 Share this content via...
1295galaxy 20 #10 Posted October 23, 2021 (edited) its not the bus times that needs changing, its the number of times a bus driver waits at a stop when there no one there, you ask the driver why,an he says i am waiting for a timer,so the journeys now are taking a longer to get to,why they have brought this in,is just stupid, and the number of cars on the roads is just showing why its bad,We never had this in Sheffield before,so why as Stagecoach brought this idea in,is just turning loads away from catching a bus Edited October 23, 2021 by 1295galaxy
 Share this content via...

Routes have time points. A set point on the route at which if the bus arrives prior to it's scheduled time it stops until that scheduled time. At times when the route is quieter, because of low passenger numbers and/or minimal traffic then these time points are a valuable tool to keep the bus on track time-wise. Time points have existed for donkeys years, they're not a new thing, all operators use them. As someone who drives over 4000 miles a month, not for work around South Yorkshire, I can assure you traffic levels are still not near pre-covid levels & from people I know who work within the public transport industry, niether are passenger numbers. You may be percieving that they're high because you've gotten used to almost no traffic over the last 18 months. How would you feel as a bus passenger if you got to a bus stop, waited for the bus only to find that it had run early because it had not been planned with timepoints so now you had a 30-60min wait for the next one? Also have you ever thought that these bus drivers are behind that wheel for upto 5 & 1/2 hours at a time, upto 10 hours a day & a 2-3 min stop to have a quick drink and a brief rest of their foot might be beneficial to them or are you one of the many people that think that drivers are just drones and only deserve contempt from yourself?
