What annoys me most about cyclists is those self-important ones who want to set the world to dance to their tune.  You've seen the ones - they ride like they own the road, expect deference from motorists, shout and argue with them when they don't get it, post footage online (and no-doubt send footge to the police for minor infringements) from their helmet mounted video-cameras, then move to the pavement when it suits them to avoid queues at lights and crossings, then join the new traffic as if they own that road as well.  They should be made to have driving licences and pay for licence plates like motorists, pay road tax, and face bans for infringements, just like car-owners do.  Equality for all!

What annoys me most about  motorists is those self-important ones who want to set the world to dance to their tune.  You've seen the ones - they drive  like they own the road, expect deference from everyone else (including other motorists, because no one drives as well as they do) , shout and argue with them when they don't get it, post footage online (and no-doubt send footge to the police for minor infringements) from their dashboard mounted video-cameras, then jump red lights when it suits them, because they're too important to have to wait.

They should be made to have driving licenc... Oh hang on...

See what I did there? People are people, on a bike or in a car.  If you're an obnoxious tosser it doesn't matter what your vehicle is...

You only voted that way to spite the poster on the first page, you dont genuinely believe that adding cyclists to the same list as ethnic minorities and homosexuals is actually a goer.

His tone aside, this thread is an utter nonsense.

He is not alone though with his thoughts, many others utter the same thing.

The Police have been criticised in the past for their institutional  attitudes to miners during the coal strikes, Liverpool fans in Hillsborough or girls in Rotherham.

So should drivers be criticised for their attitude towards other road users where they put lives in danger.

Nobody is saying they shouldnt. The issue I have is a) it's hardly a "hate crime", and b) why cant it apply the other way round?

Due to the pandemic there are far more cyclists, runners and walkers, and good on them. OK some of the cyclists and runners are not 100% confident, but the same can be said for some drivers. Come the end of this pandemic I reckon that there will be a lot more fit people than before it.

As for bad mannered people firing insults at each other, who’s going to police it?

Grow up pal. No, not a hate crime, that's ridiculous. But a bit of common courtesy and not putting people's lives at risk is a reasonable expectation, at least of any adult*

Nobody, is one persons word against another, unless everyone goes out purchasing helmet/dash cams that record audio.

Can we also start a petition to make shouting at an ice cream man a "hate crime"? What about bin men, delivery drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers?
