Husbands Civil Engineers

Recommended Posts

Just noticed in the credits to the WWII classic The Bridge on the River Kwai that the above named Sheffield engineering company designed the iconic wooden bridge used in the film, does anyone know anything about them?

I believe they also designed the Jodrell Bank Telescope.

That’s correct. They were on Glossop Road and were taken over by Mott MacDonald a few years ago.

In 1953 Husbands also designed & built the BISRA premises which have just been demolished except for the protected Cementation Furnace

Hi, looking to trace Dr David Philip Burton who worked at husbands in the 70’s. I believe he married and went to live in Ireland, not sure of exact dates. I was at college in Nottingham and myself and other fellow students would like to make contact again.
