Ladybird Invasion

We've noticed dozens and dozens of ladybirds suddenly appearing on our windows today...what's going off?
We assumed they'd all be hibernating by now?

We’ve got hundreds of them. 
 

That article is interesting @nikki-red.

 

It’s not entirely accurate though. They aren’t harmless.  These are harlequin ladybirds, an invasive species.  They also bite.

They're probably the non-binary type...

That's a very good question, Mr Sibon.

 

I think the more common (or garden) ones should be fine with it... :)

We could also call them by their proper name - Coccinellidae      (yes, I googled it!).  Just trips off the tongue downt it!

I think Cocky Nellie is definitely one of the non-binary type... :confused:

I remember at the end of the long hot summer of 1976 walking along Bitholmes on the way to Deepcar and being nearly up to my ankles in ladybirds in places.
