I thought I was imagining this, but, over the past few years, in the 3 or 4 weeks before my house insurance or car insurance are due for renewal, the amount of spam I get rockets up and then dies down after the renewal dates... None of the spam is insurance-related, just an increase in volume of the usual nonsense.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm getting over 50 spam emails everyday all porn. All in gmail, when I delete them they come back straight away and sometimes they try to open. I would cancel the gmail account but a couple of companies I use are in Spain and I would have to be there because I need someone to translate for me. I have had my gmail for a few years and never had a problem like this before. Fred.

Can't help with spam problem - other than to suggest you close the offending account and open a new one.

Hello RollingJ  I have heard of Google translate but in Spain you have to go to the companies office in person to change anything with your account. Fred.

Have you put your details in a comparison site for your house or car insurance in the past ? If so your details have been sold on.

Well, that's what I'm suspecting. In which case, thousands of others will be seeing the same issue, and I'd have thought it would have been flagged up.

It seems thats what has happened with  my gmail account. My wife used it when searching for car insurance/ gas and electric.
