GrinderBloke   10 #2 Posted June 23, 2006 I didn't live on Edward Street but an uncle had a little sweet shop at the top of Broad Lane, it stood long after other buildings had been demolished. Unfortunately in the mid 1970s during a gale the chimney stack was blown off, landed on the roof and that was the end of his little sweet shop.  My grandmonther was born in Hollis Croft and worked in that area most of her life, I remember going to see her at work in a buffing shop on Scotland Street, Phew! vilink   10 #3 Posted June 23, 2006 Hi, We lived on the Edward Street Flats from 1955 for a few years, they were ok then, remember we had a very good caretaker - cannot remember his name, but he was always most helpful if you had a problem.  What is your interest in the Flats?
