Trams To Hillsborough For Tramlines

Its for three days....and it's been common knowledge for months that it would be going ahead...surely you can plan ahead and make alternate travel arrangements can't you..?

 

Out of interest ..what do you do when there's a match at Hillsborough..?

At least for the last 16 months that hasn't been a problem. But before that the closure of Leppings Lane for the entire afternoon and the closure of Penistone Road after the match was a real pain as well, if you must know. Wednesday's poor performances in recent years have meant that parking hasn't been too much of a problem, and with them getting relegated this time I can't see crowds picking up much. 

 

Two wrongs don't make a right. Tramlines was OK when it was a free event in the middle of town and didn't inconvenience anybody but now it's been commercialised and dumped on the people of Hillsborough, it's just a nuisance - park boarded up and off limits for a fortnight or more, roads closed, noise nuisance, tons of litter to clear up afterwards and so on.

They only (to my knowledge) started closing off Leppings Lane for the afternoon and Penistone Road fairly recently not sure if it was the last season with crowds allowed or the season before. Before then things were not so bad for residents and visitors who needed to travel through but lived outside of the immediate area where of course parking was an issue.

An area suffers with football matches so should suffer some more with tramlines, perhaps share some of the suffering out to other areas?

Tramlines should be applauded for how its grown over the years and it appeals to music lovers of all ages with events going off all over the city..and giving local people an opportunity to see up and coming bands and established acts ...having said that i understand that it could viewed as a nuisance to local residents....but realistically,where else in Sheffield,could you hold a 3 day event like this...?

What's a realistic alternative in Sheffield where you could hold an event like Tramlines over 3 days..?

Like AndyC mentioned on the previous page, there's plenty of alternative bus services which will be accepting tram tickets in the local area.

What's a realistic alternative in Sheffield where you could hold an event like Tramlines over 3 days..?

Loads of people live around those parks, no different to Hillsborough Park. How does it solve anything?

Graves Park (which is about 3 or 4 times as big as Hillsborough Park)? Millhouses Park? Plenty of places really.

Endcliffe and Millhouses way too small and access is terrible both have one real ,already busy road

 

Hillsborough benefits from 2 decent routes away from the site and of course ,the tram which can shift hundreds of people at a time,back to town where surely all the out if Towner's are staying. 

 

Securing a Park as big as Graves would  take some doing,too big

 

Would love to know what the council charges the promoters for hire of the park.
