There is a severe national shortage of HGV drivers across the UK right now, with supply chains under extreme strain and large-scale retailers like Sainsbury’s and Tesco building gold bridges to any HGV driver who’ll come.

 

Given council and Veolia pay rates for skip HGVers, it is perhaps unsurprising that collections grow fewer and further between.
 

Covid infections may well explain the issue…but it makes for an equally-convenient excuse if driving slots shortages are actually down to staff turnover.

Looks like one more collection has been added to the listed collection dates.

Last collection is Monday 22nd November to Friday 3rd December.

Won't be doing it again next year.
