Anyone recall when the Midland Hotel Alfred Road/Brightside Lane opened ?

Hia St Petre. One reference  says  originally, 1862  another says 1870.

I'd guess the last incarnation was 1960's - having played there in the Wards darts league in the 80's the interior was very similar to both the Bathfield and Boomerang (Netherthorpe), Jack In A Box (Hackenthorpe), Domino (Broomhall)

Thank you Heartshome but I meant the one that is there now  but no longer a pub.

Wasn't there a pub called the Don at the corner of Don Rd  and NewnallRd

Definitely frequented the one in the picture and our lass remembers it as well.

I try to work out what Bike / car I had at the Time and when we moved out of Sheff.

So by that reckoning  the place must have still been still open late 70's mid 80's at least?

What was across the road where La Piazza is now?

Was that a pub also?

The pub on that corner was the Forge (Tetley's), I think it was damaged in a fire.

1957 i was a regular customer.the Don was on the corner of Brightside lane and Hawk street
