Anyone Familiar With Middlewood Lodge?

Hi all

I’m thinking of living at middlewood lodge but have a genuine question before I make my decision…is the place haunted??

 

Please don’t laugh at me I know it sounds silly but so many people have said it is 🙈

 

it would be great to hear any good/bad experiences of people who have lived here or know someone who does! Even if it’s not paranormal related, just general opinions are welcome too!

More of a problem is what 'Middlewood' conjures up to Sheffielders, i.e. the asylum that used to be there.

I think it means little now to most people from Sheffield and beyond. It was only called Middlewood Hospital from 1948 to 1966 . it was set up as South Yorkshire Lunatic Asylum in 1872 and had been known by various names up to 1948 including sometimes using the are name of Wadsley as does the current housing estate.

We have a tram route labelled Middlewood and street names called Middlewood and others named after buildings on the site, three original building used for flats  and a nursery. 

Having lived here for 10 years when I have told people I lived on the Middlewood site (most people don't recognise the name Wadsley Park Village) I have never had any comments except expression of envy for the space and greenness we enjoy.

I’ve just reactivated my account and seen these replies. I never ended up getting the property in middlewood but now live in oughtibridge and love it here 😁 

 

No ghosts either 😂😂
