Seat Leon Sat Nav Stopped Working

Recommended Posts

The car is seven years old and when turning Sat Nav on I get a message saying “insert valid SD card”

I have tried to understand the guidance on the internet but it’s hardly straightforward.

I have spoken to the main Seat dealer who basically said check that the SD card is in its slot(which it is) and thereafter there are multiple reasons for the problem.

They want £79 just to diagnose the problem....not to fix it.

Has anybody had the same issues.

Does the SD card stop working after a time because the maps need updating.

Any advice welcome and in the meantime I will use my smartphone when necessary.

Have you tried removing the SD card and checking it in another device ….ie a computer to see if there is data on it ?

Scrap that apparently it locks the card to your radio head unit so you can’t swop them …

You can buy new map cards online pretty cheap.  You'd need to figure out exactly what model of Sat-Nav you've got.  There are guides online to tell you what buttons you need to press and what information you need to jot down.

I am tempted to try a replacement SD card.....provided I can return it if that’s not the problem.

The one built into my Audi  is useless. An upgrade to the sd card is £250.

I solved the problem by buying a little Garmin plug in sat nav for £80. It’s much better than the built in one, but if is a bit more of a faff.

The Sat Nav's in some Audi's were absolutely dire, the Mk2 A3 and Mk2 TT were notoriously poor.  The problem was made worse as the unit in the VW/Skoda/Seats from that same era was very good.
