Should just bring back the reserve league that worked so well for years.

you don't really want 3 games a week.

No-one actually plays 3 games a week though do they? If a team plays Saturday/ Tuesday/ Saturday that's more than a week

But never the less, from a sports science and overall physiology point of view....

After an intensive work out such as a professional football match, it takes 72 hours for the muscles to replenish used minerals and glycogen.  The general strain, wear and tear in elite athletes is ridiculous and a busy fixture list in which teams play weekend / midweek / weekend means that players never completely recover.

For big clubs, with big squads that they are able to routinely rotate and remain competitive...this isn't a problem. But for lower league clubs, this leads to injury and tiredness.

And for what reward?...

The eventual winners of the trophy, pick up a very underwhelming 100k prize money...The sponsorship deals aren't worth talking about and the gate profits definitely aren't worth singing about.....pointless competition really

Well if any one thinks playing togga is hard then they are having them selves on , some sports are brutal , let these players who need a rest and a cup of whatever after just 45 mins try 12 rounds of boxing  ,or three weeks on a bike riding 2500 miles  over the mountains of Europe  then I think they would know just what hard means when competing in sport .

He did say elite athletes, so us Wednesday fans have no need to worry.

Would you have the same opinion where your key player or leading goalscorer, suddenly does a major ligament or long term hamstring?...pretty much ending form and derailing the season?

Take a look at Chris Froome .
