Signed Up For Army 1930 - Where Was The Enrollment Office?

My grandad lived in Rotherham. He signed up to the army around 1930 and it says on his army records he enlisted in Sheffield.

 

Where would the office have been Where he enrolled?

Possibly Edmund Road Barracks.

I’m sure that it is, as what I can’t say, best nip down and have a look, it’s near the United ground.

my dad enlisted in 1952  (Korean war)  and he said he went to the recruiting centre on Ecclesall rd which is a building just past the shopping centre ie tescos etc with the pillars on the front.

my father lived in catcliffe and signed up in the 1930s , I am sure he signed up somewhere in attercliffe.

No likelier than any other, how about Hillsborough Barracks, Langsett Road/Penistone Road?

There were  a few about in that period tbh.

The Coronation Buildings, 508 Attercliffe Road.

The Farm, Granville Road.

You could also enlist at any Territorial Army barracks.

Not only that individual regiments would go on tours to pick up recruits, my wife's 

Grandfather's regiment the 4th Queens Own Hussars did several tours that included Sheffield in the late 20's early 30's.
