Pomfret - A Type Of Fish

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone has ever cooked with or eaten a fish called Pomfret? It was being sold recently at one of the fish stalls in The Moor Market. I'd never even heard of it, let alone tried it, but it looked quite interesting  and I'm curious about it. Any info or advice about it would be much appreciated.

Hmmm...

I've never heard of it either, but I quite like the idea of...

... Pomfret and Pomme Frites! :)

:D Cheers Mr bloke. Your comment made me chuckle. Most of the Pomfret recipes I've seen online seem to be for Thai and other Asian-style dishes...and the few people who were buying it in the market seemed to be Thai and Chinese  people.

We had pomfret in a curry in India a couple of years ago.
It was excellent and well worth trying if you can get the fish.
