Cheap Whisky In Sheffield That Don't Ask A 45 Year Old For Id?

Meh, at least I acknowledge Father's Day, a lot of people don't.

I'm a father, couldn't care less about fathers day, I know my children appreciate what we do for them because they say thanks. Don't need some over-commercialised, over-sentimentalised sales opportunity to know that.

My dad feels the same.

I’d be happy to get stopped and asked for ID tbh 😂

Exactly, I dont see why people see it as an issue, I take it as a compliment these days and usually have a laugh with the staff member about it.  Clearly not everyone reacts in the same way :suspect: but then again not everyone is a functioning member of society with an ID with their picture and DOB on it.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I don't always carry ID, does that mean I'm not a 'functioning' member of society? If you mean a certain section of society, please elaborate. Might be an interesting conversation.

You have it though. The only people who surely have issue with presenting ID to buy alcohol are people who dont have any.

I do, it was the 'functioning' bit that I was curious about. Not everyone is legal to drive, or has a passport. Which other forms of ID have a photo? I'm sure there are, i've just not heard of them.

The Passcard thing has a photo on it, or whatever its called. Seen it promoted in pubs.

When we went to the pictures as kids, if the film was an ‘A’ we didn’t go home - we asked someone to take us in. Maybe the answer is to use a bit of initiative.

Tell you what Mr Allen. I'll fetch you a bottle of whisky for your Dad. Tell me what you want and I'll pick it up, pay for it and you can reimburse me when I give it to you.

I visit Sheffield at least 5 days a week so I'm sure we can arrange something re meeting up and doing the swap👍

Edit. I'm not sure how I managed to quote you HeHasRisen. I'm pretty sure I just pressed reply 🤔

Dad's told me not to buy anything anyway.

Not for Father's Day anyway, although I will hit Moonpig when I get paid next week and order a cheap card.

I may be wide of the mark here or be opening a new tin of worms, and this is certainly a genuine comment and not a ‘dig’ at anything / anyone.

In a previous life I knocked on doors for charities (yes, some of you wont agree with that and will possibly have some ‘choice words’, but it is what it is)

As part of the training we went through how to ensure that the person we were talking to was ‘fit’ mentally and understood what they had agreed to. This was usually the elderly, but I did come across a few people that were much younger, that were keen to sign up, but it would be clearly wrong for me to sign up.

Maybe there was more than meets the eye going on when you were challenged?

As I said earlier - no disrespect meant.
