Parkway Speed Limit.

Recommended Posts

Due to the roadworks the parkway is currently restricted to 50 mph.

I have a feeling it will stay that limit when the roadworks are complete.

Anyone else get this feeling or do I just have too much time on my hands?

I agree - with the 60mph restrictions on the M1 it seems inevitable.

Perhaps you need to ask Rotherham council - they're responsible for the Parkway from the M1 to Handsworth.

I'm sure it was announced that it would remain at 50mph even before the works started - ridiculous.

They've been after dropping it to 50mph for a long time but never had the justification for it AFAIK.

I believe the plans are for it to remain at 50mph after the works are completed as Objective 4 listed in the Business Case document mentions 'reducing speeds'

Ah well. I suppose it could be worse, at least they aren't thinking about making 1 lane a cycle lane and 50mph will only add a couple of minutes to my journey. I rarely go much more than 60 anyway.

Thanks for the info Resident 🙏

Rotherham Council confirmed years ago this would be the case. Cited to reduce air pollution.

There are also other restrictions coming into effect on their main corridors, A629 Wortley Road, A630 Fitzwilliam Road and A633 Rawmarsh Hill.

Really? The A629 is already 30 or 40 all the way along from the M1 into Rotherham, what more can they do to it? 10mph limit?

The A 630 Rotherham Parkway on some maps and some of the signage is confusing. How many people, new to the area feel they are going the wrong way until they see the the sign.
