Bring on the Wheel jokes - Submerged Bikes - Shopping Trolleys etc. Keep safe & Keep out of the water. PS Hathersage open air baths are heated hence the warmth - didn't used to be when we were kids & and they were bloody cold. Cheers @Rockers rule- I had heard of that, but couldn't remember its cause. You are probably correct. 👍
 Share this content via...

Has been heated since at least the 1960's, maybe not to the same temp, but heated. Many happy hours stood around the asbestos heat pipe...... Prob early 60's when we first went Gillybear sure didn't feel heated. often told story - of how me and my brother were watching our Mother swimming towards the deep end when she suddenly lifted out the water. Only two frogmen trying out their aqualungs and had been sat there un-be-known to us. They did apologize but has caused some merriment ever since. Happy Daze, ride down to Hathersage Baths then up to visit Little John's grave, make sure he was still there. Keep safe.
 Share this content via...

I do wonder what the top level of the water was in its days as a reservoir. Two/three metres higher than it is now. The embankment was never anything to do with the dam. It was built decades after. The embankment was built by subscription of residents of Crookes/Commonside/Steel Bank/Walkley etc. and later Sheffield, to provide access- later it was used by the trams. It should have been built of rubble rather than household waste and getting hold of quality rubble proved difficult. charliewag 19 #20 Posted May 31, 2021 I used to fish Crookes Valley Park regularly and I remember in the90' s one of the volunteers who tended the flower beds caught Weils disease. He was ill for a long time but thankfully made a full recovery.
 Share this content via...

Weil's disease - water / Rat born. either way both are possible, Tick from damp ground near lake. Water from handling fish / fishing rod? or anything else that's been in the water. Keep safe.
