Cars Using Public Roads As A Racetrack

Recommended Posts

I'm not a fan of speed cameras as a rule but by eck does my road need one. For the last 6 hours we've had car after car after car screaming up and down the road easily in excess of 80mph (guesstimate) possibly even faster with no regard for other road users or pedestrians. This has been a regular thing for as long as I've lived here but recently it's got much worse.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are the usual days for this insane behaviour but I'm guessing the nice weather we've had today has encouraged the morons to get behind the wheels of their overly loud and chavved up civics, golfs and A3's.

I called the police and informed them a few hours ago but I'm guessing they are busy because the speeding hadn't stopped

Time for me to crack open a cold one and try to ignore it.

Rant over....

Ahhhhh, I actually feel better for getting that out of my system. 😁

I've noticed that recently the "c*ck car" seems to have migrated from your stereotypical Audis and BMWs and moved onto Seats.

Literally every Seat we've encountered on the roads has been driven like a complete and utter prat.

There's been 2 Seat Leon's as well and I agree, there does seem to be more Seats driven by morons these days.

I'd still say Audi have the highest number of c**ks driving them though but that's just my experience..

Seriously, who the hell has a car that makes noises like a bloody firework and thinks "Yeah, that sounds nice. My neighbours are gonna love me"?

Or am I just old and boring 🤔

We've had hundreds of them coming past us. Maybe as many as 200 in convoy, including quads, bikes, hotrods, luxury cars, land rovers, lots of very expensive looking cars (like Bentley types). Total disregard for other motorists, like something out of Mad Max, driving over curbs, making a ton of noise, speeding through red lights (in convoy, on the wrong side of the road, while some of their buddies are parked in the middle of the junction preventing regular traffic crossing on green).

Reporting to police a complete waste of time, as they're powerless to stop it (pussies); and even help them by providing escort drivers on bikes. Message is clear, if you're in a gang with 100's of vehicles, do whatever you like, the law only applies to law abiding muppets like you and me.

One of these days I'm going to flip and get a tank.

We get the racers up here in the leafy bits of SW Sheffield too. Cars doing 60/70/80 in a 30 zone.

It’s mostly Friday nights and lockdown has made it worse.

It can’t be difficult to sort out though. The cops have a van up the road regularly from 10 til 3, all they need to do is to bring it out at night.

Get onto your local councillor, it helps if you can get a few local residents together and pester them about it.  Video evidence can really help as well.

The police suddenly seem to jump into action when the council put the pressure on.

It’s the same problem on Leighton Road, cars and idiots on motor bikes.
