If You Could See A Remake Of Any Movie, What Would It Be And Why?

Got to disagree with 'The 39 Steps'

I think all of the films have merits of their own.

The 1959 Kenneth More being my personal favourite, although for closeness to the book the 2008 film nearly has it.

The 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film is what it is.

I often feel the Robert Powell film doesn't deserve the slating it gets, come on it was 1978 and technically it was well done.

We were lucky to see the Stage (comedy) version at the Lamproom Theater Barnsley a good few years ago.

Shame I can't remember the name of the theater group or the players because they really need a mention.

The action, use of stage props & belly laughs throughout worked on stage.

So why not yet another 39 Steps but a comedy version this time?

Keep safe.

In December 2019, I went with a friend to see the Patrick Barlow (him of the National Theatre of Brent) adaptation of 'The 39 Steps' at the Lantern Theatre in Sheffield, performed/presented by the resident Dilys Guite Players. It was a hoot, so perhaps the same as what you saw.

As far as the film version goes: give me the atmospherics of the 1935 Hitchcock/Robert Doughnut/Madeleine Carroll version every time.

Hello Blob.

Cant find the program but don't think it was Dilys.

Got to be the gorgeous Miss Fisher (Taina Elg) in the 1959 film for me

Didn't Katherine Kelly start out with the Lamproom Theatre group? I believe her Dad ran it, and her sister is also making her way as a professional actress.
