Recommended Posts

If they can pump juice in kelham island castle can also become something interesting again. Wait and see what happens after the archeological excavation there.

So lots of offices, restaurants and leisure facilities but no real shops to attract people on a daily basis?

Bound to work 🤣

What with Meadowhall, Coronavirus and online shopping, things are bound to be tough for city centres nowadays. I think the developments that the council have made over recent years to regenerate the city centre are excellent - Leopold Square, Tudor Square, Winter Gardens, The Moor all certainly look at lot better than they did.

All councils are having to rethink the purpose of city centres so yes they have shops, but they become places for people to live, work and socialise - that's just the way things are nowadays.

I'm not sure that Sheffield could sustain another large market.

I prefer the market that is at the bottom of the Moor to the old one, which was dilapidated and an eyesore. Though I'd hardly call it 'gentrified', the new one is much cleaner, modern, and easier to maintain. There use to be a free bus service that would take people round the city centre, and I hope that can be restored so that people can have easier access to the new market.

Eight (?) years after the new market open and people on here are still incorrectly harping on that the Moor Market has no buses going past it, fire up the time machine Doc!

What next? There are no car parks near it? Aye there were loads next to the old one 🙄

Was it? Where? I think your mind is playing tricks on you unless you have a disabled badge.

If you want a free car park for the new one....the old Staples car park for up to an hour.

No there definitely was a free bus service that took passengers around the city centre

I know there was, I am not arguing that. I think you need to read my posts properly.

Point being the market has plenty of buses going past it already, it doesn't need a free service resurrecting.  The way people have harped on on here for years is that the market is at the arse end of nowhere.

Well, if my responses to your post aren't to your liking, you can always look up the information yourself.

Why would I need to look it up when I knew that already? 🤷‍♂️ again you have totally misunderstood my point.

As an aside, still waiting for details as to where this free car park next to the old market was.
