Has anyone noticed the election results from our colleagues in West Yorkshire ? they have elected The MP for Batley & Spen  who ill now have to resign her seat in parliament wonder why our Mayor thinks he can do two jobs

As did Andy Burnham when he was elected at Greater Manchester.  The short answer is he can't give 100% to two jobs and Dan Jarvis should have resigned his seat when elected Mayor.

According to locals she was a terrible MP

There can't be many MPs who haven't had that said about them by some constituents at some time.

Plus: whyever is the new 'county' post called a Mayor?

It's nothing of the sort. Maybe 'REEVE' would be a better name.

After all, a sheriff derives the title from a shire-reeve.
