60% Of The Amazon Rain Forest Will Be Gone By 2050 But We Still Demand More

We live in a society that demands ever more choice driven by economics and human gratification. Our needs are stripping the planet bare destroying the natural world in the process .It has been reported that 60% of the Amazon will be gone by 2050 the ice capes are melting much faster than first realised coastal erosion  is effecting our coast lines as sea levels rise. Then we have this pandemic a new virus that has jumped from animals to us perhaps natures way of trapping us on the shoulder.

 

Our politicians promise this or that regardless of their political ideology they talk about Brexit or whatever subject of the moment is to please their voters but the elephant in the room our climate is barely mentioned.  None of this matters they are here today gone tomorrow but we need our planet to survive. Money or the latest must have are no use to us if our air is toxic no one will care. 

 

We need to change from an throw away society try and repair our planet their are no other planets to move too in our solar system. 

 

Were I live the woods near me are coming down for housing people moan about animals coming into their garden going in their rubbish but animals are struggling to survive. 

 

Will change in time or pay the price for our arrogance?

They are thriving in spite of Mother Nature's attempts to eradicate them.  Plagues, cancers, earthquakes, volcanoes,, floods, droughts, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and the occasional asteroid collision has killed off more than 99% of all species that ever existed.

 

The only arrogance these days is the lack of humility in man's challenge to overcome the odds ranged against him.

 

Those "reports" you are reading in the Media of catastrophic climate change are greatly exaggerated, and another way for politicians to justify higher taxes, and wealth re-distribution. Much hype.

 

So how hot is it really getting?

 

NOAA's monthly satellite record over the last 42 years shows a negative -0.05 degrees warming anomaly over that time, (https://www.nsstc.uah.edu/climate/), and the NSIDC   (https://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/) Arctic Ice extent is where it was in 2006, and Antarctic Ice Extent is well above where it was in 1980.

 

The NASA record which purports to show a warming of 2 degrees since 1880 is based on ground based instrument records and proxies that preceded the exploration of large areas of the World, Africa, the Americas, Australia, and both Poles.

 

But we are now in the satellite age, and have a more complete picture going back 42 years.

 

So relax. The End is Not Nigh, as most would have you believe.

We haven't had a climate change denier for a while. Are you also denying that the number or birdlife in this country has dropped by 11% in the last 50 years because you've seen a few pigeons?

If things are so good why are ice caps melting so fast something has changed? We need trees for oxygen so more forests we cut down less oxygen is made I think you will find we need clean air to survive. Many species of animals have gone not always down to hunting either. The Lincolnshire coastline for example has seen dramatic change as homes fall into the sea another example an town on the Welsh coast will be lost as sea level rises the government have decided not to try to save the town due to the predicated sea level change.  

 

Many islands nations in the Pacific ocean are seeing more flooding than ever it is likely they will have to leave their homes in the near future. Florida , United States is experiencing more flooding .

Exactly this. We can talk about stopping meat eating to reduce co2 emissions, but at the same time we're hacking through rain forest to make palm oil.

Indeed a good point they are too many of us now for the Earth to cope with. Another factor with the Amazon it is home to many tribes who have never seen an outsider who often turns up with a chainsaw in hand.

Well the good news on that front is that human fertility continues to decrease in many parts of the world. Average sperm count in western men has more than halved in 40 years, women's fertility has also decreased significantly. On top of which, women in many countries are choosing to have fewer children or none at all. In Spain there are towns and villages that are all but empty, also in Germany. Good, hopefully that will be the case in the UK before long as well. Things do look very bleak for the 21st century, but better for the 22nd. Humans will act over the climate in this century but will leave it too late. Hopefully the people who come after will learn from our mistakes.

Was it yesterday I saw days that the world temp was at its highest in thousands of years and the increase is steepening.

Ice loss is also running at double it was in the nineties, again an ever increasing rate and mind boggling  volumes.

But 60% of sub-Saharan Africa are under 25 years old.  

 

As a white, European, I wouldn't fancy having to tell them to have fewer children.  It would smack of imperiaIism & Empire.  I think I'd have my suggestion thrown back in my face.  Similarly, I can't see any of our politicians doing it either but something has to give at some point, especially if, as predicted the world warms up to such an extent that Africa will become uninhabitable as will much of southern Europe, so there will be more & more people moving to a more suitable & habitable northern Europe & places like Canada. 

 

Imagine a world population of 10 billion+, condensed into a much smaller mass?
