A NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH SCHEME FOR PARK GRANGE IN S2

 

I grew up in a village where my family knew all of our neighbours. I’ve lived on Park Grange Mount for over three years now, and I know very few of you.

Neighbourhood Watches work to build fellow-feeling among people who live locally, making them feel part of communities. That’s why I’ve started a Neighbourhood Watch Approved Scheme for the streets of newer housing in our patch of S2. 

 

These streets include Park Spring Grove, Park Spring Drive, Tower Rise, Frank Wright Close, Beeches Drive, Beeches Bank, Roberts Close, Eyre Crescent, Park Grange Drive, Park Grange Mount, Park Grange Rise, Park Grange Court and Park Grange View.

I was Vice Chair of a Sheffield NW group for a number of years

Hopefully you will bring your community together and see a reduction in crime

I personally se it as primarily community-building and secondarily crime-reduction, though obviously priorities will be decided by the group of participants that emerges.

I would say a short regular e newsletter would be more effective and a WhatsApp group to alert and communicate with neighbours. Your e newsletter could be sent by PDF over WhatsApp and you could canvass neighbours for their contact details to join the group.

And that's for s10. Not much difference. Hardly makes s2 look like the crime hot-spot you claim it is

S2 has its ups and downs like every other area.  A lot of the downs are due to lack of community spirit in my opinion as things have changed a lot since all the neighbours knew each other etc.  I think it's great that someone is trying to make things better and try and get the community back together.  Let's not knock it until he's tried it!  Shame you're not in S14 or I would have joined you myself!  Good luck.

It's been well known for years that some parts of s2, particularly Manor Park and the Manor itself, are Chav central full of thugs who'd rob their own Mothers for a "fix"!

No, it hasn't. It's no worse than many other areas of the city, as the link I posted shows.
