Has anyone bought a suite from DFS? Any problems with it? If so can you return it?

We've just had ours delivered today and are very disappointed with the 3 seater. It's only 3 inches bigger than the 2 seater and is not made to seat 3 people! It is causing problems already. I've got a slipped disc and it has given me backache after only a few hours sitting on it.

There's a messaging system you can use to contact someone

Failing that there's a request callback tab for complaints  further down the page.

It might be a good idea to check the size of the sofa here

If its the right size, then that is what you bought.

Good point so I checked the dimensions of this...

https://www.dfs.co.uk/belair/blr12acwp?skuId=4009768&&origin=Fabric_2_Seater_Sofas

Its internal dimensions for the seats is only 7.9" shorter than the 3 seater.

Here is the "3 seater".

I'd expect a 3 seater to be more than 3 inches bigger than a 2

Absolutely.

I think its shameful they are even allowed to call it a 3 seat.

That's all just opinion.  Sofas have a range of sizes, shapes, seat dimensions, fittings dependant on the model,  style, price and manufacturer.

With respect, if I didn't have an ability to test it in the shop beforehand the first thing I would make sure is to check the measurements and dimensions before making an informed decision on whether it was suitable for purchase.

Whilst I'm sure it is disappointing it has not matched your own expectations, as El Cid has rightly pointed out, if DFS have delivered exactly the product you ordered as per the exact measurements and specifications they set out on their product description - then they have done nothing wrong.

If there is nothing structurally wrong with the sofa then you may have some issues obtaining a refund but their website does refer to cancellation policies of around 14 days after delivery which you may be able to look into. Probably best to contact store as a first port of call.

To be fair, given there's only £20 difference in the prices I don't think anyone would expect a massive difference in the size of the product.

In their world just under 8 inches would be more than enough to squeeze an extra backside on.

In my experience of both DFS sofas and slipped discs I don't think you're going to find one that doesn't give you backache. I remember having to use a lot of cushions/pillows to get a seated position that was remotely comfortable.

Getting a sofa from the big stores I've found to be a bit of a false economy.

If you do manage to get a refund why not look at getting one made. Nearly all of my family have been going to Archers for years.

I had one made last year, 3 & 2 seater to my dimensions with a good fabric and very firm support and cushions as my other half has a slipped disc and its great. They don't have a website but you'll find them on 01709 828975 or at Field View, Brinsworth S60 5BU

Thanks glitterballs, im thinking of getting a new sofa. I will give them a call.
