I happened to be "under" the hospitals for other things when my "frozen shoulder" started.

"Frozen shoulder" has done exactly what it says on the tin-no cause, no cure,  just pain control if you have to.

If you have other conditions only take prescribed pain killers and have your kidney function checked.

As it will last up to 18 months you should consider asking someone to help reorganize your bathroom an kitchen cupboards.

Annie's right about this.

For anyone who has shoulder problems that can be helped with physio, try Val at City Physio. She has deep academic knowledge, and is also very pleasant to work with.

Forgot to say the pain will last 3-6 months, especially those caused by sudden move like grabbing handles on buses as they move off. Take are if you are a driver as you know the pain can be debilitating. Fetching things off shelves. Sleeping can be difficult. It does go away and it is worse now that it will be next week.

The pain eases followed by a gradual reduction in stiffness closely followed by a return gradual return of movement.

A phone appointment with your GP would be reassuring.

As Dozer says, Physio may help get full movement and strength back.

As buddysbuddy says your specialist needs to establish that the surgery and "frozen shoulder" are not related.

I've just been diagnosed with frozen shoulder. i had a visit from physios who gave me some exercises to do. I find Paracetamol does nothing for the pain so have just bought some Co codamol to see if it helps. I was up at 4.30 this morning because I couldn't get comfortable. I hope it does go soon, I have enough other health problems to deal with .

Frozen shoulder symptoms will go through predictable phases until you get full mobility back in about 15 months.

You need stop taking Co-codamol.

Show the pharmacist your current medication and medical history so that they can prescribe the most appropriate pain relief for long term use.

Get help to sort you cupboards/drawers out for easy access.

Use big cushions under your arm.

Some people use heat pads- gels and get relief.

Keep up with the physio. and exercise -their benefits are long term.

When you go out get a pouch to put around your neck/short strapped handbag rather than using pockets.

The pain is worse at the start but does start to ease off after around three months.

Avoid situations where you might need to make sudden movements- eg  crowds, buses, shopping

It will go- trust your pharmacist and physio.

Had one a few times  a legacy of my rugby playing days . Last time  my GP put me on some serious pain killers as I was in Agony. After a week being on another planet saw a Physio  who sorted me out in 6 weeks

Interesting advice to stop taking Co codamol. It was the pharmacist who prescribed them. What would you advise instead please?

Six weeks cure with no anti-inflammatories? Impressive, but you are unlucky to get it twice

Powerful painkillers can be very dangerous and anti-inflammatories harmful so most doctors avoid giving them. Most patients will be advised that the pain has peaked and will go through phases and wait for the inflammation to die down naturally over several months before healing and muscle building brings back mobility.

One of the active ingredients is codeine, which is an opiate and a Class B drug.

Medical issues include liver damage, seizures, kidney damage, etc.

It is addictive and the tablets drug of abuse.

Addiction and death are not uncommon as it is widely available and easily shared.

It is very dangerous to take with similar and a range of other drugs including alcohol.

It availability is under UK Government review.

The other active ingredient is paracetamol-which has its own issues.

Codeine and Paracetamol are two of the most harmful easily available drugs.
