Have you considered a replacement good but used engine ?

Rebuilds aren't cheap, if the car is getting on abit you'll easily spend more than it's worth fixing the engine.

I just bought a replacement engine. Unless you're wanting to forge the inside etc then just replace it with the same code. I replaced an AXX with a BWA engine code and all good.

Have just used Paul Craig, based on Effingham Road, reasonable costs and seemed very through.
