Eliza Ellen O'Brien, 1887.

Recommended Posts

Eliza Ellen O'Brien, born 27 August 1887 in Sheffield, sister to  Florence and Edith as well as other siblings.

We know Eliza married Tom Batty, December 1908, somewhere in Sheffield.

We have no addresses, which is unhelpful as regards census look-up for 1891 and 1901 when Eliza would've been about 3 and 13 respectively.

Would love to know any parent details if anyone can oblige, please.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest you post on www.sheffieldindexers.com where you will be assisted by people who have access to censuses, BMD's and Parish Records.

A very helpful bunch of folks on there.

Regards,

Duffems

Just as an aside to the good work of Annie Bynol, if you intend to follow the Tom Batty line, he was born at Walton on Thames.

If it's not yours....there's a tree on Ancestry that may fill a few gaps, with a photo of Tom Batty in later life.

I have seen a photo of "my" Tom Batty, so I'll know if they are actually one and the same - many thanks for your suggestion and help!

Just to confirm that it was indeed the "correct" Tom Batty!

Really interesting and useful - thanks again, sadbrewer! Terrific!

Hi FoxLady - in case it's of interest, here is a link to a scan of the 1911 census page for the Battys.

If you search Ancestry.co.uk, and select public  member trees for eliza ellen o'brien 1887, sheffield,, there is a family tree on there with census images - in 1901 she's listed as a servant  to a family in Clum (??) Street - hope this helps!! 🙂
