As opposed to the unofficial one's in Pitsmoor and Sharrow - lol. Keep safe.
 Share this content via...

Keep Safe & long live the Queen. Why should everything else stop because one person dies? News reports and obituary programmes are perfectly fine, but rolling out talking head after talking head to say what they thought about him to keep the coverage going non-stop? Isn't that getting a little over the top? Lets face it, one of the few certainties of life is that it will come to an end eventually... AKAMD 0 #53 Posted April 10, 2021 Prince Phillip officially opened the Tinsley Park Steel Works in 1963. When the multi-union committee fighting its closure in 1985 wrote to him for support, it received a reply wishing it well. Naturally he couldn't get involved in the politics of the closure but it said a lot that he bothered to respond. Being a Republican I have no further comment to make other than his passing is a sad loss for his family.
 Share this content via...

RJRB 676 #55 Posted April 10, 2021 Royalist or Republican, people die every day which is of great sadness to their family and friends. There seem to be those who feel the need to associate themselves more closely by intruding on private grief, such as those assembling at Buckingham Palace when expressly requested not to. Contrast this with the treatment of those who attended a vigil on Clapham Common for a young woman who was murdered as opposed to a gentleman who had a long and privileged life and has a reportedly peaceful death. cuttsie 1,063 #56 Posted April 10, 2021 The media attention and the crowd scenes remind me of the funeral scenes from Lioyd Webber's Evita .
 Share this content via...
dutch 68 #57 Posted April 10, 2021 People seemed more shocked and upset when Diana died. There were piles of unsold papers at my local newsagent and they told me most regular paper customer were not buying them today. This will all peacefully blow over soon and calm down again. When Diana died people spoke about that for a long time.
 Share this content via...

butlers 224 #60 Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) BBC1 was 6 percent down on the previous Friday. ITV was 60 percent down. In the 7pm to 11pm time range. In this multichannel age I guess this was entirely likely. Never watched a royal wedding but caught some of yesterday's stuff and was very informative Edited April 10, 2021 by butlers
 Share this content via...
