Building huge mosques that dominate the landscape as a symbol of Islamic domination, opening halal slaughterhouses and butchers, forcing women to walk around wearing made to measure symbolic prisons, driving a teacher into hiding for fear of being beheaded for showing satirical cartoons to his class and harassing a politician on the streets for supporting LGBTQ rights aren't my idea of integrating. London having a Muslim mayor is a perfect example of how they're slowly but steadily taking over.
 Share this content via...

Cyclecar   24 #449 Posted September 6, 2021 The fundamental here is that the man in charge (Biden, Johnson, whoever) will never step before a microphone and admit that they got anything wrong. Their spin doctors will clutch at any item of good news and claim credit, if they have to reveal a setback, then blame it on anyone but themselves.  Biden has problems, whether overseas such as Afghanistan - where he is playing for time in the hope that it will go away - or the influence of China which is outside his control, or inside the USA with issues such as gun control and changes to the law on abortions. Viewed from afar I fear the latter will have no happy ending. Another thread perhaps.  But Biden would gain a lot of respect if he were more candid. Biden is not an absolute ruler, though at least one previous incumbent tried to change that. The american system deliberately limits the power of the President, particularly on internal issues.  The President has no real power to do anything about either gun control or abortion other than make speeches.
 Share this content via...

Wars never go as the belligerents expect so one should avoid getting into them unless absolutely necessary. Going to war in Afghanistan ought to have been recognised as a fairly open ended commitment and therefore should not have been lightly undertaken. For the US's Afghan allies the war was not in any way optional therefore the US should not have treated it as optional. Ffs, the Afghan government wasn't even represented at Doha where the agreement was made.
 Share this content via...
trastrick   866 #452 Posted September 15, 2021 Time for an update?  September 14, 2021 "Biden Underwater On Job Approval And Handling Of Key Issues, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds' https://poll.qu.edu/poll-release?releaseid=3819  Joe gets negative approval on his handling of the economy, COVID, foreign policy, job as Commander In Chief, climate change, and direction of country.  The poll is consistent with the last 10 National Polls on Biden's Job Approval.  Ironically, his only positive approval is his "decision" to withdraw from Afghanistan, which he is quick to point out, was a Trump decision he inherited. Is this your 'distract from the embarrassing failure of the Republicans to recall the Democrat California Governor' post? The vote is currently running at about 2:1 in favour of the Democrat. Baron99   775 #455 Posted September 16, 2021 Watched some of the presentation announcing the new UK, US & Australian defence pact. Sleepy Joe was on form. "Thanks to Prime Minister, Boris Johnson & thanks to... thanks to, er, thanks to that guy from down under." Scott Morrison must have been chuffed?  Two names Sleepy Joe, one of which you know well. Better keep him away from those important Executive Decisions.
 Share this content via...
