The problem with  AOC is that her total experience in real world economics comes from being a "bartender and waitress" and  later, "a now-defunct publishing firm for books that portrayed the Bronx in a positive light".

Hardly the sort of qualifications to advocate for legislation of  a "Green New Deal",  which has been thrown around for years by various left wing green movements.

But she is  an attractive (can you say hot? Lol) media celebrity that can finally give it some main stream attention. In a similar way that another popular celebrity, Greta, brings to the "Climate Change Problem". This a cynical and exploitive ploy to flog questionable political policy, akin to hiring bikini models to sell new cars.

But, like Greta who knows little about the scientific atmospheric forcing mechanism of the Earth's climate, OAC does not have the experience to understand all the ramifications of a plan that she, and Bernie Sanders readily agree will change  the fundamental culture and economy of America.

The problems with the GND are the cost, how will it be paid for, and if mandated, the total effect it will have on people's daily lives.

The cost is estimated to be up to $100,000,000,000,000.00.  They say it can easily be paid for by taxing the rich and corporations. But the major problem with their flawed left wing economics, is that they use historical GDP numbers as a benchmark , and project this economic prosperity, derived under the present capitalistic system, into a future that will, they admit, bear no relation to today's economic models.

Finally, the affect on people's lives?

It will be hardly noticeable at first, indeed some elements are already being passed in the omnibus "Infrastructure Bill" presently before Congress.  Any perusal  of the details finds that it's not actually only about rebuilding highways and bridges. there's money in there for environmental programs, that may seem benign at first, but will be difficult and costly to implement.

But once they get the go ahead, their "mandate" will give them the authority to gradually increase the regulations to cover every aspect of one's life, including the privilege of travel, would require "carbon passports", and such.

Of course it will never all come to pass, because once folks see the major impacts on their lives, and the money runs out, they'll just boot them out of office, like they regularly do, in a democracy.

That's why the Churchills, Thatchers, Reagans, Nixons, Bushes and Trump are always poppnmg up, to save the socialists from themselves. Lol

History repeats!

The Democratic party are more right wing than the current UK government, it's not "left wing economics".

As before, the cost you detail is total outlay, doesn't include any of the many economic benefits it will bring, or the savings from offsetting damage from climate change.

There's every chance it will save money, and many lives, in the long term. Certainly, no-one can say it won't at this stage.

80% of the money is for social programs and health care, the effect on people's lives is likely to be an improvement on what they enjoy now.

Lol

Reds under the bed?

Reds is a pseudonym for Communists, and today can be found all over the World in most countries, as duly and legally constituted political parties.

The US has The American Party of Labor, Communist Labor Party, Communist Party USA, Communist Voice Organization, League of Revolutionaries for a New America, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Party of Communists USA, Progressive Labor Party, Revolutionary Organization of Labor, Revolutionary Communist Party, U.S. Marxist–Leninist Organization, Workers Party, USA, Workers World Party, Socialist Workers Party, Freedom Road Socialists.

The UK has The Communist Party of Britain, Communist Party of Britain (Marxist–Leninist), Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist–Leninist), Communist Party of Great Britain (Provisional Central Committee), Communist Party of Scotland, New Communist Party of Britain, Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist–Leninist), Revolutionary Communist Group, Communist League, Communist Party Alliance.

Chinese Communists are targeting and hacking Western technology, military installations, utility infrastructure and political parties, as we speak.

They can be found dating Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell, one of Trump's most vocal critics. and as a 20 year personal aide to Senior Senator Diane Feinstein, Chairperson of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The FBI have caught a few, including the ones mentioned, but the good ones are never caught.

They can even get close to Presidents and Presidential Candidates.

In the days of the Cold War the American Left were not as outraged about Russian Connections, as they were when Trump ran for office.

In 1988, 3 days after their marriage, Bernie Sanders and his bride were hosted by the U.S.S.R. Communists in Moscow. They were there to promote cultural exchanges, and work for world peace, or so they said.

FBI Files Document Communism in Valerie Jarrett’s Family

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) files obtained by Judicial Watch reveal that the dad, maternal grandpa and father-in-law of President Obama’s trusted senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, were hardcore Communists under investigation by the U.S. government. - https://www.judicialwatch.org › corruption-chronicles

Barak Obama's close friend and mentor, Frank Davis was a Communist

And in a bizarre twist, straight out of a John le Care spy novel, the man who voted for the Communist Party Candidate for President of the United States of America, at the height of the Cold War, was appointed by Obama as his Head of the CIA . https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2016/09/cia-director-reveals-he-was-once-a-communist-sympathizer.html

His name was John Brennan, who went on to  become a paid hack on CNN for 2 years, calling Trump "a traitor". Until the Mueller Probe found no evidence of Trump collusion, and he finally admitted he was wrong. Don't see him on anymore CNN these days.

So don't be so dismissive of the "reds". They may not be under the bed, they might be  in your bed!

Nope.

Trump advisors went to prison for precisely that, before he pardoned them :?

Mueller actually found lots of collusion and criminality in Trumps inner circle.

He did not admit he was wrong:

"If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.

Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgement. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."

The last statement from Mueller on the matter was "If Mr Trump clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so".

Not quite the admission you claim. :P

That fact was never disputed.

CNN;

Mon August 23, 2021"The Pentagon has been monitoring the situation around the airport, aware that the swelling crowds on the grounds and around the airfield create a target for ISIS-K and other organizations, which may use car bombs or suicide bombers to attack, the second official said. Mortar attacks are another possible threat". https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/22/asia/kabul-airport-chaos-evacuations-intl/index.html

So, presumably the Biden Administration were aware of the possible threat.

The questions then become:

1, What steps if any, did Biden take to deal with the threat, and

2, How will he respond?
