Grimesthorpe Part 3

Recommended Posts

I've been on here before with dad who was Bill Hayes of grimesthorpe rd, up to 1960.

I've recently remarried and guess what.

Father-in-law ( dennis stanley)was from petre st.

motherinlaw (freda plant) was from cyclops st.

We are both proud to be part of the old grimesthorpe crowd.

Does he recall (from Tupholmes) Malcolm Neatby, (who was from Mexbrough), Dennis Manterfield, and a lad from Kingston Street, last name Ashforth who wore a wig even as a young man ?

Yes he remembers them all, with a smile.

Are you one of those lads ?

Dennis finished up with his own company making extraction ducting.

Wife and kids were all in it. Traditional family firm.

Fred's brothers were Billy and Wilfred (wip)

Dennis seems to remember marples living further up the street ( but could be wrong)
