R.I.P. Luton Shelton

Recommended Posts

Former Blades player, Luton Shelton, has died aged just 35 years old, of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease).  That's no age to die.

Very, very sad indeed...no age at all.

I remember the mixed emotion when he signed for us. In one hand you had this Jamaican lad who was paying his trade in Sweden, he had just won the league or Cup whichever it was and had banged in some goals in the process. But at the same time, rumours flashed around about his injuries and whether he would be on the treatment table, more than the pitch.

He didn't really get that much of a sniff for us really, only played a handful of games. But his most famous goal weirdly, will be the infamous balloon goal against city.  I will post a link to this below.

Not the best copy of the goal to be fair, but never the less a memory.

No, we never saw the best of him - like many strikers over the years at the Lane.  Always sad when someone dies, especially one so young, so fit, and with local links.  R.I.P. Luton

Always sad to hear of young 'uns dying.

He looked a very dangerous player the couple of times I saw him.

Condolences to family and friends.
