Can anyone steer me to a forum in York like the Sheffield one?

I don't think that there seems to be one- but there are some for particular interest groups; maybe the Council there or its local newspaper might know?

In that case we should consider ourselves extremely fortunate in Sheffield to have our forum.

What happened to the Leeds forum, did it close down? That may  have been about the nearest.

Pretty sure it closed down. Something at the back of my mind is telling me that Geoff (old SF owner) owned that as well at some point.

It certainly seemed to have the same format as the SF, so you may be correct there Groose.

There was a Huddersfield Forum (though it must be 10 years since I visited it).

It was very much geared to pictures to the old days in Huddersfield & surrounding districts

If not, have you tried Facebook?

Many towns,  cities, villages, have local Facebook groups.

This is the problem.  Facebook has indeed killed off many forums due to it's ease of set up.  However, it's absolutely useless for information storage.  The search system is junk, and their algorithm makes it impossible  to keep track of anything.

Facebook, Amazon etc have basically turned the internet into a handful of sites.
