cmonkes #87 Posted January 19 1 hour ago, kidley said: i dont know one way or the other but, as i see it they are looking for a head coach not a Manager? C&P There is a difference between being a head coach at a football club and being the manager. ... He described the head coach position as being solely responsible for playing better so as to yield better results on the pitch. As a manager, one is required to play the players better and still run other affairs of the club. Too many cooks spoil a broth though Kidley don't they? When a manager comes into a club, they want to assess the team in training and out on the pitch, they want to identify dead wood and areas for improvement, then finally they want to begin with placing their own stamp on the group. Listening to both Cook and Pulis, it seems that the managers sole responsibility is to put a team out on the pitch and even then, it sounds like they don't even have the decision about which players they can use. Due to contract clauses and bonuses, it now seems that players have been deliberately left out of reckoning. This is absolutely baffling behaviour and I can see the frustration. It then seems that recruitment is all carried out above management level. When managers don't have any sort of direct input into the type and style of players that they would like....for me the game is ruined! kidley #88 Posted January 20 i have mixed feelings about managers and head coaches, i think i am right in saying that a manager managers the club, not solely the team, a head coach devotes himself to the team, as i say i have mixed feelings about it. i remember when Ron Atkinson was manager the players hardly saw him. in that respect i am not to worried weather its a Manager or head coach who gets the job at S6 both the jobs can be successful, i think a manager has always had to have permission to buy players. Thirsty Relic #89 Posted January 20 I'll throw a name at you that is well out of left-field - Frank Lampard. Yes, he's at Chelsea now, but as they are in poor form at present and they are not likely to stick with him for much longer if that continues. Would he find another PL team at short notice? He did well at Derby, and perhaps would relish starting afresh. Remember how he brought a good few players on at Derby that are now doing well in the PL as well. If he got the sack, would he want to join the Owls? Worth a try!
 Share this content via...
