Faulty Lights On Cars At Present.

I went to Halfords some years ago, my stop light bulb had gone..

Think they charged about £2-50 to fit it.. No way, I'll fit it myself.

Clever move, took me about 2hours to fit it, that included searching for 1 hour for a screw I'd dropped, and this was a Ford Fiesta. Simple.

I have a question. Often,  I see cars where one headlight appears normal in respect of adjustment, and the other headlight is dazzling. I also see this on cars that are new enough to have not had the first mot. 

 

I can understand the owner not being aware. I just don't understand why there are so many vehicles like this.

In some instances the owner might have changed a bulb but not seated it correctly

I've noticed on mine that the retaining spring for the bulb is not very strong at all. I can understand how the bulb could maybe move a little. My car is quite old.

He's pulling your legs.

.......Also the software that puts the indicators on after  the turn. Especially coming off of roundabouts.

Think they charge a bit more now but less than £5

 

It's worth it if you don't want the hassle of doing it yourself.

As rudds1 says, it can be the bulbs not fitted correctly and this is not uncommon. Generally, it is the alignment at fault. You can tell when you check them on the beam setter, usually the beam image is all wrong when the bulb is in wrong, hence why it dazzles.

I think you could just be correct there - maybe the late (or non) signalling driver just doesn't give a throw for others.

Question, how do you stand on this with the law, I call it

the bathroom incident you know the thing where you go into

the bath room put the light on come out turn it off go back in

and ping the bulb goes, same with a brake light mine reflect in

my garage doors before I sent off so I know they are working,

after a couple of presses on the pedal ping the bulb goes my car

tell's me I have a bulb out, I all way's carry a spare, mine is a

Ford Mondeo and it is fiddely to change working blind by feel only,

next PC pull's you over for having a brake light out you tell him your

story, it was working when I left home and show him your spare,

does he still slap you with a £60 fine or give you the benefit of the

dought and let you go.

Might be that the beam-height mechanism on one headlight is faulty.

You should be given a defect form ( don’t know proper name ). You get said bulb sorted then take car and form to a mot station. They check it’s been replaced and working then stamp said form which you produce at a police station and then nfa is taken.  If you go beyond 14 days of  being given said form and producing it you then are liable to get done for the original offence ( bulb out)
