Sheffield Squatters In The 1940'S And 50'S

Recommended Posts

Does anybody remember families squatting on the old Army gun site in the 50's?  My parents squatted there until she moved to Damer Street next to the children's hospital.  Her name was Doris Hammond (Hobson maiden name).  My father  (died in 1952) was called Philip Henry Hammond, and had been in the Duke of Wellingtons Regiment during WW2.

Can anybody help me?  My father served with the Duke of Wellingtons regiment during WW2 and also with The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in India and Burma.

He died 6 months prior to my birth in 1952 and I just cannot find any information or photographs of him anywhere.  Can anybody help? Please !!
