Lady Canning's Plantation Deer

Recommended Posts

Was talking to some people today here who had just seen  some deer. They didn't know what type. Anyone seen them or know what they are? Seen  red deer near the Grouse Inn but never at Ringinglow.

Apparantley they are spreading all over, they need culling as they can wander where the want to.

Some years ago I was told by a man who worked on the Chatsworth estate that several years earlier a pair of deer wandered off the estate and bred. At that time it was estimated that there were about 15 of them.

Surprised at the location of that sighting what with all the cycling activity around there !

There are lots of them around that area, they get down into Dore and Totley as well.

I cycle in the peaks and it’s pretty common to see them if you know where to look.

Burbage rocks area on the Hathersage side is good to spot the Stags.

Magnificent animals!

Saw several the other day at Flask Edge above Owler Bar. Also seen them on Burbage Moor, Big Moor & near Smeekley Wood in the last couple of years.

Seen a couple in there whilst cycling.  Only spotted them up the main path, they tend to have moved when you come down the trail.

I've seen a lot more of late, especially in rural areas just a few miles from a large town or city.
