SueB54   0 #1 Posted September 30, 2020 I lived in Abbeyfield road, directly down the hill from the House. We were told that the Mr. Steel who lived there was connected to Steel, Peech and Tozer. He always left one light on!When he died, the corporation pulled the house down and built the Cleansing Station. PeterR   10 #3 Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) Hello SueB54. My Dad used to take me fishing on a pond in the late '40s/early '50s which I recall was opposite the end of Osgathorpe Road across the junction with Barnsley Road. I've not been there for many years as don't live in Sheffield now. I understood it was used by employees of Firth Vickers where he worked. Here's a link to some pics of Osgathorpe House. The first three show a pond in the grounds of Osgathorpe House. I wonder if this is the same pond before Barnsley Road was laid down just beyond it??......https://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?&searchterms=osgathorpe+house&action=search&keywords=all%3BCONTAINS%3B%osgathorpe%%3BAND%3Ball%3BCONTAINS%3B%house%%3B&page=1#rowNumber0 Edited October 1, 2020 by PeterR
 Share this content via...
