Baron99   753 #1 Posted September 29, 2020 (edited) Developers have submitted plans for a 39 storey building on the site of the old Primark site, just down from the High Street.  https://www.constructionenquirer.com/2020/09/29/plans-in-for-39-storey-sheffield-tower/  Looks very distinctive & the developers state, "The building will be clad in white brick-slips at the lower levels, with portland stone fluted columns for the higher floors."  All well & good but the developers of the City Limits / Conran Tower at the Peace Gardens was supposed to be clad in metal plating that would slowly change to burnished bronze & gold in colour. Until of course the developers stated that they could no longer afford this type of building material & they were prepared to walk away from a half built building, unless SCC agreed to them changing the specifications & allowing them to use a cheaper, plastic cladding. Edited September 29, 2020 by Baron99
 Share this content via...

The Joker   10 #4 Posted September 29, 2020 Hey, I like it!  But I am concerned the area is built on a slope and is at high risk of collapse.  This is Sheffield after all, so I fear the architects, developers and construction company were the lowest bidders 🤔
 Share this content via...

Rockers rule   617 #7 Posted September 30, 2020 I like it, but wouldn't want to live in it & wonder who would. Picket fence and country side for me. (& a garage of course)
 Share this content via...
DirtyHerbert   10 #8 Posted September 30, 2020 I like it, but accept it’ll look a bit out of place at the moment. Hopefully similar developments follow, because that area really needs it.
 Share this content via...

Make a lot of promises to the planners when seeking approval and then go back on your word - we will build x number of affordable houses and so on  what happens nothing whatsoever the council roll over and continue to grant the company further work
 Share this content via...
Wazzock   10 #12 Posted September 30, 2020 and the comments on here perfectly demonstrate the small town backwater mentality that pervades this forum...
 Share this content via...
