Conkers - Abbeydale Road South

Recommended Posts

There are thousands of conkers laying on the ground between Mercia Motors - Dore Sorting Office and Brinkburn Avenue on Abbeydale Road South. These conkers need collecting before the next rain.

Cheers.

in my day they wouldnt of been there ,the kids would be playing with them for weeks, taking them to school, selling them ect, great days, now its a health and safety issue and kids would struggle to grasp the idea of conker hunting, never mind the game that every kid loved, how the world has changed, pity this game isnt played today as it is part of our heritage.

I think its more a case of mobile phones are more entertaining, rather than H&S killing the practice.  Don't believe the media.

in some parts of the country ,they still have conker competitions and we should encourage this art ,to continue as its part of our heritage, its a mainly outdoor sport, fresh air, plus finding them, then putting them on string, also some used to put in the oven or vinegar ,so there must be some benefits.okay its old,but so is football, cricket, knitting ,so come on teach your kids its fun
