Royal Mail Parcel Problem

I bought an expensive item and the shop sent it Royal Mail 24 hour service on Mondays afternoon

it sat in London until Tuesday evening

then at 4 am on Wednesday it was at sheffield mc

didnt come to me 

at midnight Wednesday this was on the tracking :-

 

We're holding this item at Sheffield South DO. We’ve received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today. We'll attempt delivery as per the instructions we’ve received, which is usually on the next working day.

 

anyone any idea what this means?

tracking now says to be delivered today ( Thursday)

Probably means an error in the original delivery date they stated.  Had payment cleared?

Yes of course payment had been made

shop posted and shows on tracking

but then hung around in london

then hung around in sheffield

strange message on the tracking re someone asked for not to deliver

 

probably post office speak for we messed up

I didn't ask if payment had been made - I asked if it had cleared; that can take a couple of days.  You said it was an expensive item.

 

Anyway, it's probably an error on RM's part and the request not to deliver was made by RM themselves.

It sounds like an error.  That kind of notice occurs when a postman feels in danger or threatened at a property, usually by a dog. So someone higher up goes to deliver.

Or, the premises has made a request to not receive post/parcels on a Saturday because it’s an office (for example) and is empty at the weekend.

It's Royal Fail / Parcel Farce. 

 

I've recently received a parcel that was posted RM24. 

 

It was posted by the merchant on 04/04/20.

 

You complain and all the do is a meaningless gesture of a few stamps. There's seemingly no accountability within RM.

Don't blame Post Office. PO nowadays runs just the sub-office counters, via sub-Postmasters/Postmistresses.

Royal Mail is an entirely separate plc business and has been for years.

To save me from starting a whole new topic for one simple question, I'll piggyback on this one.

 

Does anyone know what "PSC South Yorkshire" is when it comes to tracking a parcel?

 

I know that all the post is being hugely delayed at the moment, but this parcel has been traveeling through the system since the 10th, even though it was meant to be a Tracked 48 hour parcel.
